Have you ever wanted to try out Amateur Radio but didn’t know anyone involved or know how to get involved yourself? Are you a ham radio operator that will be in the area looking for something to do? The Hampden County Radio Association will be holding a field day right in Agawam Massachusetts on June 25th and 26th. Anyone is welcome to stop by and check it out and even participate. We will be having multiple stations on the air trying to make contact with other operators doing the same thing. This would be the perfect chance to get your feet wet as well as meeting many area operators.

When:

  • Setup June 24th 2016
    Setup Start Time At School Street: Approx 10 AM
  • Field Day Start: June 25th 2016, 2:00 PM
  • Educational Activity: Setting up a portable station (NPOTA, SOTA, etc, 4:00 PM
  • Field Day Picnic: 5:00 PM
  • VE Session: June 25th 2016, 6:00 PM
  • Field Day Ends, Teardown begins: June 26th 2016, Approx 2:00 PM

For 2016, HCRA is bringing back food to Field Day thanks to Alan (AB1XW).
We will be serving up burgers and hot dogs for the operators, members and guests
That will be coming to field day. If you are a member, please stop by and support your club. It’s encouraged that you bring a side item to share.

What could make field day even better is to walk away with a new or upgraded amateur radio license. At the ARRL 2016 Field Day, HCRA/NT1K will be administering a VE Exam. Anyone is welcome to participate

Weather Permitting

Cost: 15$ (Cash or Check/MO to “ARRL VEC”

A government issued photo ID is required (Drivers License, State ID, Passport, Passcard). If you do not have an photo ID, please bring two forms of ID (SS Card, Utility Bill with current address,  etc)

If you are currently licensed, you must bring a photocopy of your current license to be given to the VE Team. If you do not have an offical copy of your license. Please visit the FCC ULS Website and login or create an account to obtain an official copy.

Due to the outdoor environment, there will be noise from Field Day operations, Generators and park usage. We will be un-able to control the noise level .
